Harpenden Academy Inset Day…

Things sometimes happen out of the blue! On a quiet day, or so one might think, the phone rings and a bright and cheerful lady talks on the other end of the line. She is the headmistress of the Harpenden Academy who has been let down at the last minute by a Taiji instructor who was due to run a ‘taster’ class for the staff. Could I step in?

Of course the answer has to be ‘yes’. Any opportunity to spread the word is my motto. Being somewhat ‘evangelical’ about Taiji I relish the challenge of a new audience especially in a new setting.

Could I run either two, one hour lessons for ten teachers in each, or a single one hour lesson for the whole group? The key was the venue, and having a well sized gymnasium meant a single session would work.

With date and time booked, all that was left was to call another colleague who had made the referral.

It’s actually good fun to step into a situation such as this. It wasn’t a regular class with established students. It was a one-off with a group that had never done Tai Chi before. So the key was to focus on a few simple steps and make sure it was fun.

In the end, it was mission accomplished and a happy headmistress.

If you want to learn Tai Chi and live in Pinner, Northwood, Ruislip, Eastcote or Rickmansworth areas check out the ‘Classes’ page or search Tai Chi Near Me.
