WHAT IS TAI CHI (Taiji)?

Taiji is a gentle way to fight stress. A low impact, slow motion exercise practised in the manner of a series of postures called the ‘form’. The movements are circular and never forced. The muscles are relaxed, the joints never fully extended. Taiji follows the breath but with mental attention and focus.

Taiji is a way of investing in yourself, it improves posture, balance and co-ordination. Students work within their limits, but do so with constancy. It feels like meditation in motion.

Tai Chi concerns itself with your physical, psychological and emotional health. Regular practice helps to bring a natural balance into you everyday life. You can start at any time and at any age.

Laughing Monk Tai Chi works closely with the International Taiji & Qigong Federation (www.ITQF.com) and other local schools to bring events that provide a broader experience of Taiji & Qigong with access to some of the very best teachers in the UK.
